I Read My Online Horoscope and I Don’t Relate

For starters, nothing is wrong with you because you don’t relate to your online horoscope - but because you don’t relate to it doesn’t mean Astrology isn’t valid, or can’t be a tool for you to use either. You may just be needing more information.

For instance, the main reason you likely don’t relate to most of those short blurbs written in magazines, blogs, and social media memes is that those online horoscopes aren't written in context with the rest of your chart. This can leave you feeling skeptical of Astrology, or worse, like something is wrong with you because you don't relate to how it is being presented - and rightly so.

There’s no way your multi-faceted self can be captured in a short horoscope, or meme.

This is partly why I encourage people to work with a trained-professional Astrologer. There is a lot of nuance and complexity when interpreting someone’s Personal Astrology. And while, those memes and horoscopes can be entertaining, they can also do a lot of damage when that’s the only exposure you’re getting to Astrology and you don’t resonate with yours.

Secondly, those horoscopes are usually written based on the Sun Sign (sometimes Moon and Rising signs too) - but you are more than just your Sun sign. The Sun is just one of many other planets in your chart that speak to who you are. Depending how your birth chart is laid out, you may relate to other parts more. There’s no way your multi-faceted self can be captured in a short horoscope, or meme.

Next, those horoscopes and memes are often capped to a character limit of 200-300 words, which tends to give a generalized interpretation of what that Sign and particular placement means. This obviously leaves a lot of room for error, given an individual birth chart is as unique as a thumbprint.

Lastly, Astrology is a cosmic language that is then translated into those little blurbs and memes, which means each astrologer has their own way of interpreting the stars, and may have a different message to share.

So next time, you find yourself reading your horoscope and it isn’t resonating - keep this information in mind, and see how your feelings change about it.

Because, even though you can’t relate to how it’s being written, it is still a part of you, so there’s no point in dismissing it…It may just be time for you to get curious and dive deeper, via a session with a trained Astrologer.

And if you takeaway nothing else from this blog post, remember this: Listen to that inner skeptic, but also stay open to what you don’t know.
