Why I Don’t Care About What is Going on with the State of the World

By Crystal Warren

May peacefulness and joy be more than just a dream to you. May they guide your heart and spirit in everything you do.

Native American Proverb

Truth be told, I don’t care what’s going on with the state of the world.

I don’t care about who won whatever election.

Or what celebrity is launching the latest makeup kit.

I don’t care about the screaming headlines.

I don’t care about whatever fad is trendy next.

Do you want to know what I care about?

I care about you.

I care about your heart.

I care about my heart.

I care about all of the hearts still beating, despite the sorrow weighing them down.

I care about your joy and happiness.

I care about your sadness and your loneliness.

I care that you feel abandoned and hurt.

I care about how you prioritize yourself and your needs.

I care about spreading love and peace.

I care about the fact that society doesn’t make room for loss and grief.

I care that we are too concerned with extending life as long as possible over enjoying life as much as possible.

I care about having a calm, regulated nervous system over constant stimuli.

I care about maintaining a balanced wellbeing: spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally.

I care about sharing the things we feel too ashamed to say aloud.

I care about helping others.

I care about your heart. I care about your spirit. I care about you.

I care about the peace and joy you bring with everything you do.

When people ask me, “why don’t you care what’s going on in the world? “

I say, “Because I care about you more.”

What do you care about?
